The legendary movie history marathon is back!
Over the course of a month, screenwriter and FilmArche alumni Mark Wachholz will take us on an exciting journey.
The event will be in German, the slides and film examples will also be in English. Approximately 3-4 hours per event.

DECODING THE GOLDEN AGE OF CINEMA Enter the dazzling world of Hollywood’s Golden Age in the 1930s and 1940s. With the rise of the talkies, film not only finds its voice, but also its rhythm and grandeur, transforming into a sprawling industry teeming with luminous stars, riveting melodrama, and lavish spectacles that captivate millions with their glamorous, romanticized illusions. But not all is gold. We’ll examine the darker facets of the era: French cinema’s pessimistic tales of doom on the eve of war, the power of Nazi propaganda films that shaped German hearts and minds, and Hollywood’s exploration of its own psyche in the dark labyrinths of film noir..

Über den Zeitraum eines Monats nimmt uns Drehbuchautor und FilmArche-Alumni Mark Wachholz mit auf die Reise.
Die Veranstaltung wird auf deutsch stattfinden, die Slides und Filmbeispiele werden auch in Englisch sein. Circa 3-4 Stunden pro Veranstaltung.

IM LABYRINTH DES GOLDENEN ZEITALTERS DES KINOS Taucht ein in den Glanz des Goldenen Zeitalters von Hollywood in den 1930er und 1940ern. Mit der Erfindung des Tonfilms findet das Kino nicht nur seine Stimme, sondern auch seinen Rhythmus und seine Größe und verwandelt sich in eine riesige Industrie voll perfekt ausgeleuchteter Stars, fesselnder Melodramen und verschwenderischer Spektakel, die mit ihren glamourös-romantischen Illusionen Millionen in ihren Bann ziehen. Doch nicht alles ist Gold, was glänzt. Wir schauen auf die dunkleren Seiten der Ära: die pessimistischen Schicksalserzählungen des französischen Kinos am Vorabend des Zweiten Weltkriegs, die Macht der Nazi-Propagandafilme, Herz und Gemüt der Deutschen zu formen, sowie Hollywoods Erforschung der eigenen Psyche in den düsteren Labyrinthen des Film Noir.
